“NAFTA in 2013” will be the subject of a talk by Professor Jorge Garcia on Wednesday, February 20,  2013 from 7pm-8:30pm, at the  Thousand Oaks Library, 1401 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks.

The NAFTA agreements, signed in 1992, established a free-trade zone among the three North American countries:  Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.
Global Exchange is pleased to host speaker  Prof. Jorge Garcia, who will explore the effects of the NAFTA agreements in the years since implementation.  How have national economies been affected?  What has been the impact on labor and employment?  Has NAFTA affected changes in immigration patterns?  What changes might be in store for 2013 and the future?
Dr. Garcia is a Professor in the Department of Chicana/o Studies at California State University, Northridge, where he has served as Department Head and as Dean of the College of Humanities.
